Programme Overview

Doctor of Philosophy in Nutrition is designed for individuals who want to advance in the food and nutrition field. Students who complete this degree are prepared to work in the academic, public, nonprofit, and corporate sectors. The PhD degree holders will be allowed to continue independent research to increase scientific understanding in the food industry. The curriculum of the program emphasizes research and leadership roles in the food and nutrition industry.It trains students for jobs in governmental, charitable, and academic institutions.

For successful completion of the PhD degree in LUC, each candidate should publish a minimum of Four research articles in Scopus indexed journals, with Lincoln University College affiliation.

  1. A Master’s Degree (Level 7 Malaysian Qualifications Framework, MQF) in Physiotherapy or related fields accepted by the Lincoln University College (LUC) Senate; or
  2. Other qualifications equivalent to a Master’s Degree (Level 7, MQF) recognized by the Government of Malaysia.
  3. Candidates without a related qualification in the specific field/s or working experience in the relevant fields must undergo appropriate prerequisite courses determined by the LUC.
  4. Bachelor’s Degree (Level 6, MQF) candidates who are registered for Master’s Degree (Level 7, MQF) programs may apply to convert to the Doctoral Degree programmes are subject to the following conditions:
  • Within one year for full-time and within two years for part-time candidates;
  • Having shown competency and capability in conducting research at the Doctoral level through rigorous internal evaluation by the LUC; and 
  • Approval of the LUC Senate.
For international students, the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) a score of 500 OR International English Language Testing A system (IELTS) score of 5.0 OR its equivalent is needed. If a student does not meet this requirement, HEPs must offer English proficiency courses to ensure that the student’s proficiency is sufficient to meet the needs of the programme. This is normally conducted through an assessment process.
