Capacity Building Workshop on School Social Work

Faculty of Social Science, Arts & Humanities, Lincoln University College in collaboration with International Association of Schools of Social Work (IASSW), Asian and Pacific Association for Social Work Education (APASWE), and Malaysia Association of Social Workers (MASW) organised the ‘Capacity Building Workshop on School Social Work’ on 16th January, 2020 at the Universiti Malaya, Malaysia.

Prof. Dr. Zulkarnain Hatta, Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences, Lincoln University College welcomed the gathering. Dr. Annamaria Campini, President, IASSW and Dr. Yousef Mostafalou, Senior Lecturer, Lincoln University College gave away the opening remarks about School Social Work. The panel discussion had prominent international speakers like Prof. Tan Ngoh Tiong (Singapore), Dr. Annaline Keet (South Africa), Dr. Rita Meono Molina (Costa Rica) and Dr. Kathy Hogarth (Canada), Ms. Melissa Ngiam (Malaysia) who addressed the various issues and shared their knowledge and experiences on school social work.

The workshop met all the objectives as envisioned and the participants gained knowledge on how school social work can be carried in their respective countries burning all obstacles and challenges; how to address social work educators and practitioners cope with current needs; to define the role of SSWs; and to design guidelines to build school capacity to use SSW to create safe and supportive school environment.
