Programme Overview

The Foundation in the Arts curriculum is meant to provide students with early exposure to a variety of subjects through inter-disciplinary study, therefore offering the most diverse educational pathways. This curriculum prepares students for entry directly into the first year of a bachelor’s degree programme. It is mostly a pre-university programme with a focus on the arts and humanities. It is regarded as one of the most comprehensive educational paths since it enables students to acquire interdisciplinary knowledge from a number of disciplines.

  1. Pass Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) with at least CREDITS in 5 subjects; or
  2. Pass Unified Examination Certificate (UEC) with at least B GRADE in 3 subjects; or
  3. Pass GCE O-Level with at least  B GRADE in 5 subjects; or
  4. Other equivalent qualification recognised by the Malaysian Government.

 

English Competency Requirement (International Student):

Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) of 500 or International English Language Testing System (IELTS) of 5.0 or any other equivalent qualification. If the student does not fulfil the above criteria, the Lincoln University College must offer English proficiency course to ensure that student is proficient in the language to the standard required for the program.

Career paths in the sciences are diverse, offering a wide variety of fields, including R&D, engineering, and education. After completing the Foundation in Arts, students may pursue a degree, which will then open opportunities for careers in:

The program of Foundation in Arts will produce professionals who are able to:

  • Apply the basic knowledge and concepts in analysing arts related work through theories and evidencebased findings.

  • Effectively utilize lifelong learning skills in arts programme.

About The Program

It is a one-year pre-university course, similar to STPM or Matriculation, designed to prepare students for entry into a bachelor’s degree. The programme serves as a bridge between secondary school and university, equipping students with essential academic knowledge, skills, and confidence to succeed at the undergraduate level.

Students who complete the Foundation in Arts are prepared to pursue degree programmes in areas such as:

The Foundation in Arts programme is designed for students with SPM, O-Level, or any Grade 10 equivalent qualification. A Diploma is not required for entry, and students with higher qualifications may consider applying directly to a degree programme instead.

There is no specific age limit. However, minimum eligibility is based on having SPM or O-Level results.

A successful candidate usually has a solid academic background especially in key subjects along with a positive attitude, a willingness to improve their English, and strong motivation to continue into a degree programme after completing the Foundation year.

Foundation programme takes 1 year (12 months) to complete.

CLASS ROOM BASED. i.e

(Duration of Theory/Classroom session): 2 – 3 Hours
