It’s Time to Celebrate Our Nurses!

Nurses Day celebration 2017 is taking place from 08.00am today, 18thMay 2017 at Kelana Jaya Learning Site Campus, Lincoln University College by welcoming public, LUC’s staffs and studentsto share the joy and happiness.

Pro-Chancellor of LUC, Prof. Datuk Dr. Hajjah BibiFlorina Abdullah whose isalso the Former First Director and Registrar of Nursing Board, Ministry ofHealth Malaysia proudly officiated Nurses Day Celebration by cutting the cake.In her opening speech she mentioned that the International nurse day iscommemorated on the anniversary ofthe birth of Florence Nightingale, the founder of modern nursing. She alsoadded that nurses are leaders that play a vital role in the reduction ofpoverty and developing harmony in the society. LUC nursing students are welltrained because they have gone through all the basic sciences with livingskills LUC is responsible to transform students to be the best nationaland international Nurses equipped with the right skills and attitude .In herconcluding note she request the lecturers and students to bring back the gloryof nursing in Malaysia.

Prof. Dr. Amiya Bhaumik, CEO and Vice Chancellor, LUC said that he always has great respect forNurses. He inspired the students by advising, not to limit themselves tohospitals and health care centers but to explore the opportunities in other avenuestoo such as aviation. Nursing students should manifest their hidden qualitiesand come out of the little cocoon to play a bigger role in society asinnovative entrepreneurs. He added on his vision to tailor curriculum of LUCprograms especially nursing by absorbing holistic approach and aimed to producejob creators, not job seekers.

Assoc. Prof. Datin Dr. HafizahChe Hassan, Dean of Faculty of Nursing along with staff members of the nursing facultyenthusiastically organized the event to increase public awareness about Nursesand their contribution in the health of community. Apart from it, the eventaims to enhance interpersonal relationship among staffs and students of nursingfaculty and other faculties/departments in Lincoln University College. TheFaculty of Nursing also aims to raise fund and contribute to community byorganizing talk to create awareness on sexual responsibilities and baby hatch.Blood donation, Health screening, Food sale, Jumble sale, Henna drawing,Peanuts guess & Win, Karaoke, Talk by the Orphan Care Foundation were thehighlights of the celebration.
